Information for Parents
We provide tutoring for ALL primary and secondary students, dyslexic and non-dyslexic children. Whether it is support or extension you are looking for your child, our teachers are happy to assist and personalise lessons around your child’s learning needs.
All teachers at KLS are registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), have a Disclosure Scotland working with children check and have provided two references.
Parents should be aware that KLS teachers have a formal agreement with KLS to use the facilities at the centre and are only able to conduct lessons at the learning centre.
Teachers charge between £30 and £40 an hour for lessons depending on their background and experience. Once KLS has permission to share parent’s details, the most suitable teacher will then be in touch to arrange an initial meeting to discuss the tuition contract, which includes a 4-week trial period.
KLS is able to offer a thorough assessment, prior to lessons beginning, to provide a picture of their strengths and weaknesses. This will assist to guide lessons and provide the most effective targeted learning intervention for students.

In order to tutor at the centre, you must be registered with the GTCS, have a recent Disclosure Scotland working with children check and be able to provide two references.
Teachers work independently at the centre on a self-employment basis. The centre has facilities available for teachers to use including WIFI, printer/copier/scanner, communal stationary, laminator and amenities. A formal agreement is required to be signed by all teachers, as well as KLS’s Behaviour Code Policy for Adults Working With Children and KLS’s Child Safeguarding Policy. Teachers are charged a small hourly facilities fee for the time they work with children only. KLS may be able to introduce you to parents and children, but teachers are also able to conduct lessons with children they know at the centre.
